The Prime Minister was pleased to meet Professor Thomas Vallely again on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the US; highly appreciated the affection for Vietnam and the important contributions of the Professor to the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of education and policy dialogue; thanked Professor Thomas Vallely and Professor Nguyen Thi Lien Hang (Columbia University) for their efforts to maintain the Vietnam Senior Leadership Program (VELP), continuing to promote research and policy dialogue on the Vietnamese economy with new content, at the new location of Columbia University.
The Prime Minister spent time sharing about Vietnam's socio-economy, especially the important and positive results in 2024, the vision, development orientation, growth and development targets in the coming time, new thinking, methodology, and approaches to solving practical problems, key tasks and solutions in various fields.

Affirming that Vietnam always wishes to further strengthen the excellent cooperative relationship with the US, emphasizing the important role of education and training in development, and that investment in people is investment in sustainable development, the Prime Minister asked the Professor to continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation in education and training, contributing to promoting Vietnam-US relations.
Along with that, continue to promote dialogue activities and exchange appropriate policies to advise and recommend solutions for Vietnam to develop rapidly and sustainably, achieving the growth target of 8% by 2025 and double digits in the next period; renew traditional growth drivers and promote new growth drivers; make breakthroughs in science and technology development, promote digital transformation and innovation; develop the private economy in Vietnam.
At the same time, propose and recommend promoting international cooperation, promoting the connecting role to mobilize financial resources, knowledge, technology transfer, human resource training, improving management capacity, perfecting institutions... for Vietnam.

For his part, Professor Thomas Vallely reiterated his good feelings and impressions of Vietnam; affirmed that he will continue to promote cooperation activities with Vietnam, especially in the fields and contents that the Prime Minister has commented on, especially dialogue, consultation, policy advice, and implementation of the VELP program.
