On September 25, at the Hoan Kiem Ward Culture, Information and Sports Center - Hang Trong flower garden space (42 Nha Chung, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi), the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the Hanoi Association of Literature and Arts, and the Hanoi Association of Art Photography opened and awarded the 12th Hanoi Regional Art Photography Festival in 2025 with the theme "Hanoi - Forever with time".

The Hanoi Regional Art Photography Festival is an annual activity organized by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists in collaboration with the Hanoi Association of Literature and Arts and the Hanoi Art Photography Association. This is an opportunity to summarize and evaluate the creative artistic achievements of the regional photography team, introducing to the public unique and new works of artistic photography.
This year's festival has 802 works, including 731 single photos and 71 photo collections by 116 authors in the Hanoi area. The organizing committee selected 67 works, including 18 photo collections and 49 single photos by 44 authors to exhibit and consider for awards.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, photographer Ho Sy Minh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and Editor-in-Chief of Photography and Life Magazine, emphasized that with the theme “Hanoi remains forever”, the festival affirms the eternal values of the city of culture. Each photo on display is an impressive moment, a story, an emotional perspective, the artist’s love and respect for Hanoi.
“This is not only an annual photo contest, but also an opportunity for the public to admire, feel and be proud of the multifaceted beauty of Hanoi in the flow of history - culture - modernity,” photographer Ho Sy Minh emphasized.

According to the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the highlight of this Festival is the richness of artistic perspectives. The entries have recreated Hanoi at many different levels, from ancient heritages to modern works, carrying the breath of a dynamic city. Many photos are simple but touching, capturing the daily moments of Hanoians in a bustling life but still imbued with humanity, elegance and sophistication. It is the blend of tradition and modernity that has created the appearance of a Capital that is "both ancient and youthful", reaching out to enter a new era - true to the spirit of the festival's theme.
The special festival has the active participation of many young authors with new angles, demonstrating the attraction and inheritance of the Hanoi photography movement, promising to bring new colors in the future.

Photographer Vu Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Jury Council, said that this year's festival, especially the number of exhibited and award-winning photos, showed that the authors had made new discoveries and expressions about Hanoi.
Typically, Nguyen Ton Hoan's "Urban Heartbeat" is metaphorically captioned with a photo of a traffic point, with lines of vehicles like "blood streams" flowing from the ramp onto the elevated highway into the city.
The work “Afternoon on Truc Bach Lake” by Nguyen Thi Minh Hai was taken by flycam, allowing viewers to see Hanoi from above in the vivid afternoon sun, the dots of the boats on the lake creating a peaceful scene of the capital. The work “Turtle Shadow Guarding Co Loa” by Tran Thu Ha is like a reminder of a legend and national history, now preserved through the unique architecture of the National Exhibition Center…

Regarding the photo collection, the most prominent is "Traditional ancient architecture of Thang Long - Hanoi" by Nguyen Duc Toan. These are single photos of familiar landmarks of the capital, collected by the author into a group of photos closely following the theme of the contest, with reasonable post-processing to create a soft, muted color tone for the photos, helping the photo collection exude a gentle beauty with depth...
The organizing committee awarded 11 excellent works, including 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals and 5 encouragement prizes. The gold medal went to the photo series “Traditional ancient architecture of Thang Long - Hanoi” by author Nguyen Duc Toan. The two second prizes were “Afternoon at Truc Bach Lake” by author Nguyen Thi Minh Hai and “Turtle Shadow Guarding Co Loa” by author Tran Thu Ha.
The exhibition of outstanding works runs until October 2.
