In anticipation of storm Matmo, at the request of the Director of the Irrigation Sub-Department, Head of the Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province Le Hong Vinh ordered the director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company to operate the Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir to discharge water downstream with a flow rate greater than the flood flow to the reservoir to gradually lower the water level of the reservoir.
Start time from 3pm October 4th.
Discharge flow through the project from 1,000m 3 /s to less than 1,200m 3 /s.
During operation, if the water level at Con Cuong Hydrological Station exceeds alarm level 1 but is still below alarm level 2 or the flow to the lake is from 1,000m 3 /s to 1,200m 3 /s, then discharge water through the project with a flow rate equal to the flow to the lake to maintain the lake water level.
In case the lake water level is likely to reach 200m, Ban Ve Hydropower Company will gradually adjust the discharge flow through the project so that when the lake water level reaches 200m, the discharge flow through the project will equal the flood flow to the lake and switch to the mode to ensure the safety of the project.
When the flow to the lake gradually decreases to below 1,000m3 /s and the Department of Hydrometeorology forecasts that in the next 10 days, there will be no weather conditions that can cause heavy rain and floods in the basin in the localities on the Ca River basin, the Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company will operate under normal conditions.
In recent days, before and after storm Bualoi, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant has released water to cut floods downstream.
By the afternoon of October 4, in flooded areas after storm Bualoi such as Tan Ky, Anh Son, Thanh Binh Tho, Bich Hao, Dai Dong communes... water levels had begun to recede but still slowly.
Ban Ve Hydropower Plant has a large scale with a designed capacity of 320 MW, making it the largest hydropower plant in the North Central region. The main dam is 137m high, 509m long, of the roller-compacted concrete type, with a reservoir capacity of 1.8 billion m³ and a basin area of 8,700km 2 .
