***
During his lifetime, composer Le Duy Hanh had a lot of affection for Can Tho . He often returned to Can Tho to visit friends, compose and have many artistic activities here, about 20 years ago.
For the writer, the two works by composer Le Duy Hanh that were seen in Can Tho City are "Memory" and "Forever Faith".
That was a day in January 2008, at the Turtle Hall, Can Tho University (now Can Tho University) at that time, Vietnam Television Center in Can Tho City and Hau Giang Province Radio and Television Station broadcast live the Cai Luong play “Memory” by author Le Duy Hanh, directed by Meritorious Artist Bach Tuyet (now People’s Artist Bach Tuyet). The play’s setting is Lung Cot Cau in Phong Dien, with the story of a theater troupe owner who is devoted to his homeland, despite facing temptations and persecution from the enemy. Many artists performing this play such as Vu Luan, Hai Yen, Hoang Nhat, Huu Quoc, Lich Su, Duy Thanh... made hundreds of student audiences excited. Under the stage’s halo, the gentle playwright sat watching, paying close attention to every detail.
The second play that the writer still remembers is “Forever Shining Faith” by composer Le Duy Hanh, which was broadcast live by VTV Can Tho in the program “Harmony of the Nine Dragons Land” in 2015. By telling an attractive story through the art of Cai Luong, composer Le Duy Hanh beautifully portrayed the images of two revolutionaries Le Hong Phong and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. Cai Luong is beautiful from the story, characters, details to dialogue, lyrics, songs… Composer Le Duy Hanh’s talent shines through the work.
Commemorating the 2nd anniversary of composer Le Duy Hanh's death, here are a few words...
