Adding confidence and health to workers

An Nghiep Industrial Park, An Ninh Commune, Can Tho City currently has 51 operating enterprises, contributing to creating jobs for more than 23,000 people. The entire area has 31 grassroots unions with over 22,000 union members. The union organizations here have proactively implemented many activities to care for the material and spiritual life of workers, contributing to improving welfare and strengthening the connection between workers and enterprises.

Female union members and employees of Jia Zhi Company Ltd. - Soc Trang Branch received medical consultation and check-up from doctors.

Since 2023, the Trade Union of HS Vietnam Chemical Company Limited - Soc Trang Branch has effectively implemented activities to support union members facing difficulties due to serious illnesses or work-related accidents. In addition to funding from the Union and the Company, the unit also called for contributions from union members and employees.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Hoai, Chairman of the Trade Union of HS Vietnam Chemicals Co., Ltd. - Soc Trang Branch, said: "Since the implementation, the Trade Union has supported 8 cases of occupational diseases and accidents, with support ranging from several million VND to 40 million VND. All support activities are public, transparent and receive consensus from the board of directors and employees."

Mr. Tran Van Thanh, 19 years old, from An Ninh commune, was seriously injured in the hand while working. Thanks to the Union's efforts, Mr. Thanh received more than 10 million VND in support. "My family is poor, and the cost of treating the injury is very expensive. I am very warmed by the Union's care," Mr. Thanh said emotionally.

Similarly, Mr. Tran Van Binh, 27 years old, in Thanh Thoi An commune, suffered a leg injury due to a traffic accident after a shift and had to take nearly half a month off work. Mr. Binh shared: “I have been an orphan since childhood and have lived alone for many years. When I had the accident, the Union supported me with 2.5 million VND to cover the expenses. This was a great encouragement for me.”

To improve the quality of meals for union members and workers, the Trade Union of HS Vietnam Chemicals Co., Ltd. - Soc Trang Branch also coordinated with the Company's Board of Directors to organize "Union Meals" on major holidays of the year. In the past 3 months, "Union Meals" have been held regularly on the 28th of every month with each meal costing 35,000 VND, nearly double the price of a normal meal.

Health care programs for union members and workers are also focused on by trade unions at all levels and many enterprises in An Nghiep Industrial Park. With the support of the higher-level trade union and Soc Trang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, the grassroots trade union of Jia Zhi Co., Ltd. - Soc Trang Branch coordinated to implement the program "Your Health" for 120 female workers at the Company. The women received in-depth health examinations and consultations, especially on issues related to women's reproductive health. Through consultation and examination, 16 cases were detected with diseases related to reproductive health. This helps women to receive timely treatment, minimizing costs and long-term effects.

With the modest income of workers, timely support policies from trade unions have added confidence and determination for union members and workers to overcome difficulties and feel secure in their long-term commitment to the enterprise.
