On the night of September 7, Nguyen Duc Vinh, born in 1982, and his younger brother Nguyen Ba Trung, born in 1988, discovered an accident on the dike near Du Pagoda, Van Ty village. Realizing that the victim might be in danger, the two brothers immediately approached, called for help from the people, and stayed to protect the scene. They were concerned about the victim's life and wanted to ensure that the accident scene was kept intact for the authorities to handle.
However, when the victim’s family showed up, instead of thanking them, they accused Vinh and Trung of causing the accident and started cursing and even assaulting them. Although the victim himself confirmed that the two brothers were only trying to help, the group still aggressively attacked. Only when the commune police intervened did the incident temporarily calm down.
This behavior shows obvious ingratitude and sets a dangerous precedent. If good people are retaliated against for their acts of kindness, who will dare to help others in need? This can cause many people to become indifferent, apathetic, and choose to turn their backs on accidents to protect themselves.
In fact, there have been many accidents that happened in crowded places but no one dared to help. Partly because they were not directly involved, partly because of the fear of being wrongly accused or misunderstood. Such hooliganism must be condemned and severely punished to protect basic human values in society.
The incident is also a reminder that good deeds must go hand in hand with legal knowledge. When an accident occurs, people should immediately report it to the authorities, calling 113 or 115 instead of handling it themselves.
During the process of providing assistance, recording and taking photos not only helps to prove your actions but also creates honest witnesses. Calling on many people to join in the rescue will increase the effectiveness of the rescue and at the same time protect those with good intentions. In case the victim's family members are aggressive, keeping a distance and waiting for the authorities instead of confronting them directly is the safer way.
Kindness is a noble quality that should be respected and promoted. Helping others brings joy and peace, but is not always reciprocated with gratitude.
Therefore, saving people must be accompanied by alertness, to avoid the case of "saving animals, animals repay; saving people, people repay with resentment". Only when accompanied by responsibility, understanding of the law and alertness, can kindness be protected and spread, contributing to building a safe and civilized society.
