Ha Long City: Towards building a model urban area

Deputy Head of the Urban Management Department of Ha Long City Pham Ngoc Long commented: In recent years, with the investment attention of the province and city, the appearance of Ha Long urban area has changed, becoming more and more synchronous and modern. Besides the positive aspects, Ha Long urban area still has some shortcomings, such as self-built houses accounting for a large proportion, causing architectural imbalance and lack of synchronization; the treatment of domestic waste is not synchronous; the area of green trees and public parks is still low, not meeting the standards of a type I urban area...

To meet the requirements in the current context, urban planning and beautification in a model and typical direction is very necessary. New architectural works, parks, public spaces and green transport systems will create a more civilized and attractive urban image, while increasing real estate value and attracting investment. Convenient transport systems and modern public services help reduce costs and increase business efficiency, promoting the development of industries and services.

Following the city's direction, local Party committees and authorities at all levels have thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented the Master Plan for Ha Long City to 2040 approved by the Prime Minister and the City's Urban Development Program towards 2040, focusing on planning and urban renovation towards green, synchronous, modern, adaptable to climate change and the province's green growth requirements. At the same time, mobilize the participation of socio -political organizations to propagate and mobilize cadres, union members, association members and people to join hands in building a model urban area.

With the achievements and lessons learned from the implementation of Resolution No. 21-NQ/TU of the City Party Committee on investment, renovation and upgrading of infrastructure in residential areas and urban areas formed before 2005 in the area, Ha Long City has focused on developing specific regulations for model roads and streets in terms of architectural planning, technical infrastructure, culture and security, environmental sanitation and urban order. From there, it will be the basis for encouraging neighborhoods to invest, renovate and build typical model streets.

Along with that, invest in renovating parks, flower gardens, and walking streets to become civilized outdoor public spaces, associated with the project "Ha Long - City of Flowers". In the period of 2024-2025, Ha Long City will build and renovate at least 3 flower routes; upgrade flower routes in the city's central tourist area; renovate and upgrade Ha Long Flower Park; invest in building 3 new sightseeing spots with a total cost of nearly 50 billion VND. At the same time, deploy peak periods of general environmental sanitation, urban beautification, cleaning up vacant land funds; planting additional and replacing shade trees, landscape trees, and flowering trees throughout the area.

In addition, the city also encourages the development of green buildings, green buildings, using environmentally friendly, sustainable construction materials, with the ability to withstand and adapt to climate change and natural disasters. Continue to mobilize investment and manage lighting systems in the direction of creating impressive highlights at night. Up to now, the city has completed the decorative lighting design of a number of typical streets, such as: Tran Quoc Nghien, Tran Hung Dao, Tran Quoc Thao, Ha Long... as a basis for communes and wards to mobilize socialization for implementation. It is expected that the projects will be completed before December 23 to serve Tet decoration and city lighting.

With synchronous and practical solutions and the joint efforts of the entire political system and people in the area, the urban appearance of Ha Long City will increasingly change with green, synchronous and modern living spaces, meeting the needs of people and tourists.
