Ho Chi Minh City will list apartments that meet the conditions for tourist accommodation.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned units to review and publish a list of apartment buildings with apartments that meet the conditions for tourist accommodation rental, and at the same time develop a project on exploiting apartments for tourist accommodation rental in apartment buildings that are not for mixed-use purposes.

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document announcing the conclusion of Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, on the model of short-term rental accommodation in apartments in apartment buildings.

Mr. Cuong acknowledged the efforts and attempts to research and synthesize reports of the Department of Construction related to the use of apartments for tourist accommodation rental, while this is a new, complicated issue and field, with many related legal regulations regulating it.

For apartments in mixed-use apartment buildings with the need to rent out for tourist accommodation, the City assigns the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Justice to fully review the provisions of the Housing, Residence, Tourism laws, other relevant legal provisions and regulations on fire prevention and fighting, business registration, tax registration and invoice issuance, security and order... to issue documents guiding the necessary and sufficient conditions to be allowed to use apartments for tourist accommodation rental.

At the same time, the City assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate with the City Police and People's Committees of wards and communes to review and publish a list of apartments eligible for short-term rental.

Regarding the practical need to exploit apartments for tourism rental in non-mixed-use apartment buildings, the City assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Tourism to research and propose to the City People's Committee to report to competent authorities for consideration and permission to establish a research project, propose exploitation solutions to serve the economic and tourism development of the City and ensure security and safety for residents living in apartment buildings.

The City assigned the units to complete the above contents before September 15.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction proposed the City People's Committee to allow a pilot model of short-term apartment rental with a pilot period of 12 months, starting from September 1, 2025.
