Ho Chi Minh City launched a campaign to create literature and art.

On July 13, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City launched a campaign to compose, stage and promote literary and artistic works towards the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of proud heroic epic".

Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the Campaign will contribute to enriching and diversifying the source of literary and artistic works; creating conditions for spreading good values widely and strongly, contributing to encouraging and promoting the patriotic emulation movement, towards the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

According to Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, the Campaign aims to bring the value of art through works into social life in a profound way, contributing significantly to improving the cultural life of the people; at the same time, strengthening propaganda and promoting the image of Ho Chi Minh City to tourists and international friends. High-value literary and artistic works will continue the mission of beautifying Ho Chi Minh City, worthy of the name of the City named after Uncle Ho after 50 years of liberation, innovation and development.

Works participating in the Campaign include the following fields: Music (songs, symphonies, musicals); Cinema (documentaries, feature films, film scripts); Architecture (works with architectural space under ^2,000m2 , works with architectural space from ^2,000m2 or more); Dance (dance episodes, dance poems, dance suites, dance plays); Fine Arts (paintings, statues, groups of paintings, installations; monuments, groups of monuments, monumental paintings); Photography (single photos, photo sets, photo books); Theater (scripts or complete plays with a staging time of 90 minutes or more, including types of opera, reformed opera, drama) and Literature (memoirs, short stories, poetry collections, novels).

Participants are individuals, groups, authors, groups of authors, owners of works who are Vietnamese citizens, foreigners living, studying, working in Vietnam... Each author can participate in many different genres and fields. Scripts and literary and artistic works participating in the campaign are scripts and works published from January 1, 2022 to April 30, 2024; these works have not won any awards in any contest or campaign.

The Organizing Committee will receive works from the date of announcement of the plan until April 30, 2024. The time for evaluation and awarding is expected in the second quarter of 2024.

The Campaign's prize structure includes: First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize and Encouragement Prize for categories and fields. The announcement and award ceremony is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2024.
