Captain Nguyen Van Duc - political commissar of Radar Station 615 - said that Hon Chuoi Island has an area of about 7 square kilometers and is one of the important outpost islands in the southwest of the country. The island has complex terrain, high slopes, harsh weather conditions, little rain, and a lot of sunshine.

Currently, Hon Chuoi Island has 39 households with 120 people. There are 3 forces stationed on the island: Navy, Border Guard and Lighthouse. People on Hon Chuoi Island live mainly by cage fish farming, life is still difficult due to the lack of national grid electricity, schools, medical stations and frequent shortage of fresh water.

This time, the unit gave the charity class on Hon Chuoi island household electrical appliances, including fans and LED bulbs... These are necessary items for students to study better.

"The gift for the charity class is small but contains the affection of the unit's officers and soldiers for the students, with the wish to share some of the difficulties and motivate them to strive to study," said Captain Duc.

In 1995, the "green uniform" teachers of Hon Chuoi Border Guard Station opened a charity class on Hon Chuoi Island to teach the children of fishermen on the island. Up to now, the class has 32 students from grades 1 to 7. This class has been recognized as a school in the educational system of Song Doc town, Ca Mau province.

On this occasion, the journey "Youth for the sea and islands of the homeland" organized by the Central Youth Union presented 32 scholarships and many other school supplies to students of the Hon Chuoi Island charity class.
