At the inauguration ceremony on September 6, Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that this is an event of special significance in connecting the two cultures. She said that the project is a symbol dedicated to the political and cultural relations between Cuba and Vietnam, and is also the first mural in the history of bilateral relations.
“We inaugurated this mural in a special year - the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the special and unique friendship between the Parties, governments and people of the two countries, especially on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day on September 2nd,” said Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada.

The painting, which is more than 15 meters long, features many details associated with the cultural and historical symbols of the two nations: images of butterflies - the national flower of Cuba, lotus - the national flower of Vietnam, areca trees, bamboo trees, sugarcane trees; One Pillar Pagoda, Havana Revolution Square; Ha Long mountains and Viñales valley... All are blended together to express solidarity and unity across all geographical distances.
Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada shared that the people of Ho Chi Minh City and tourists love the painting very much, every day many people stop to take pictures in front of the wall. She hopes that the work will contribute to raising awareness among the young generation of Cuba and Vietnam about the close cultural and historical relationship.

The mural was painted along a 15.3 meter long wall in front of the Cuban Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha affirmed: "The mural at the Cuban Consulate General is not only a work of art but also a vivid demonstration of the tradition of friendship, sincere affection and companionship between the two countries. This is also a symbol of the pure international solidarity that President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro have worked hard to cultivate."

Delegates from the two countries took souvenir photos next to the mural.
“The mural is a story told in images and colors about the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba. The images of the two flags of Vietnam and Cuba are harmoniously intertwined, the heart of the work, symbolizing the close brotherly relationship, together overcoming the harsh difficulties of history. These artistic values not only add vibrancy to the space of the Consulate General, but also a strong message about generational continuity, about a friendship that is constantly nurtured and developed,” said Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha.
