At the event, the Organizing Committee awarded 100 gifts (each worth more than 4 million VND, including batteries, battery packs and LED lights, medicine bags, and a legal handbook on fishing) to fishermen; and also awarded 30 scholarships to children of fishermen who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Duong Mah Tiep, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that this is an activity of profound political and humanistic significance, demonstrating the cooperation of the press, government and community in accompanying fishermen - those who work day and night at sea to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Mr. Tiep highly appreciated the program for providing practical support, contributing to the propaganda of sustainable seafood exploitation and combating illegal fishing (IUU). The gifts for fishermen and coastal students not only have material value but also serve as a source of spiritual encouragement, helping fishermen to be more confident in going out to sea and students to have more determination to strive in their studies.
For more than 3 years of implementation, the program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen" has organized many discussions and legal seminars on removing the IUU "yellow card"; awarded more than 4,200 gifts and 700 scholarships; provided free medical examinations and medicine to 2,000 people; and supported hundreds of gifts and cash for the poor, lonely elderly people and disadvantaged children.
The program won First Prize at the 42nd Ho Chi Minh City Press Award (2024) and the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Creativity Award (2025), and is considered a charity program with profound political, social and humanistic significance.
