Regiment 923 continues the tradition of the heroic Yen The Air Force Group

In this heroic unit, tradition is not only something to be proud of, but also the fire that lights up the journey ahead.

On the morning of August 1, Air Force Regiment 923 (Division 371, Air Defense - Air Force) held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Regiment's Traditional Day (August 4, 1965 - August 4, 2025) and received the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal.

Air Force Regiment 923 was established under the name Yen The Air Force Group under Decision No. 137/QD-QP dated August 4, 1965. Affirming its role as the spearhead in the Northeastern sky of the Fatherland, Regiment 923 is a unit tasked with combat training, combat readiness and combat; protecting the airspace on land, sea, and islands in the assigned responsibility area from the 18th parallel to the North Pole of the Fatherland, including the Gulf of Tonkin, Northern Laos, and Northern East Sea; participating in airspace management, flight management and operations, and performing other ad hoc tasks assigned by the Division, Service, and Ministry of National Defense.

Over the years, the Regiment's "Determination to Win" emulation movement has always received the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the Chief of Division 371, and the guidance and support of the Division's functional agencies. Officers and soldiers have strong political will, good moral qualities, a clean and healthy lifestyle, always have a sense of responsibility, are proactive, united, overcome difficulties, and are ready to receive and complete all assigned tasks well.

Currently, the Regiment is assigned to use Su-30MK2 aircraft, performing combat readiness missions, flight training, ensuring flight safety, airspace management and other tasks.

With outstanding achievements in combat and construction, the Regiment was awarded many noble prizes by the Party and State, and was honored as a "Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces". Many collectives and individuals of the Regiment were honored by the Party and State as "Heroes of the People's Armed Forces", including 29 pilots who were awarded or posthumously awarded this noble title.

The Regiment was awarded 3 flags "Determination to defeat the American invaders" by Uncle Ho; received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in 2015 and 5 Emulation Flags from the Ministry of National Defense, 4 Emulation Flags from the Air Defense - Air Force...

For many years, the Regiment's Party Committee has been clean and strong, the unit has been strong in all aspects, and has been awarded the Emulation Flag and the title of Determined to Win Unit.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Bui Thien Thau, Deputy Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force, congratulated the achievements of officers, soldiers, pilots, professional soldiers and defense officials of Regiment 923 in recent years.

Faced with the increasingly high requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland, he requested the Party Committee and the Regiment commander to continue to closely follow the characteristics of the task, lead and direct comprehensively, focus on implementing breakthroughs well, excellently complete the training task, be ready for combat, and contribute to the cause of building the Army and protecting the Fatherland.

The officers and soldiers of Regiment 923 today must inherit and promote the traditions of previous generations, actively train, successfully complete assigned tasks, and build the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Air Force "Unlimited loyalty, resolute attack, solidarity and coordination, collective achievements".

At the ceremony, the Commander of Regiment 923 read a letter of commendation from the Minister of National Defense to the unit's officers and soldiers on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its traditional day.

On this occasion, authorized by the President, Major General Bui Thien Thau, Deputy Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force, awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Regiment 923.
