The arrested suspect, surnamed Luo, was accused of embezzling millions of yuan while serving as the financial director of a company and then fleeing to Morocco.

In February 2020, Chinese police initiated an investigation into the case and in July 2022, Interpol issued a red notice for the suspect.

Moroccan police arrested Mr. Luo in April and a court approved his extradition in late October. Mr. Luo was extradited to China on November 18.

According to China's Ministry of Public Security, the successful extradition of this suspect is of great significance in strengthening law enforcement cooperation between China and Morocco. Through this, Beijing pledged to strengthen international cooperation and arrest criminal suspects abroad.

The case is part of China's years-long effort to capture economic criminals who have fled abroad.

In 2014, China launched Operation “Fox Hunt,” in which police arrested more than 700 suspects overseas involved in various forms of economic crimes.
