The Central Committee agreed to let comrade Dinh Tien Dung cease to hold the position of Politburo member and Central Committee member of the 13th Party Congress.

On June 21, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, the 13th Party Central Committee met to review and give opinions on personnel work.

Specifically, the 13th Party Central Committee met to consider allowing comrade Dinh Tien Dung, Politburo member, Head of the 15th National Assembly delegation of Hanoi city, to cease holding leadership positions and retire from work.

Comrade Dinh Tien Dung is a senior official of the Party and State, trusted by the Party Central Committee and the Politburo to hold a number of important leadership positions at the central and local levels. During his work, he always upholds his sense of responsibility and makes contributions to the common achievements of the agencies, units and localities where he works.

However, according to the report of the Central Inspection Commission , during his time as Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Finance for the 2016-2021 term, he violated the Regulations on what party members are not allowed to do, the Regulations on exemplary responsibilities, and the Working Regulations; lacked responsibility in leadership and direction, leading to many violations and shortcomings by the Party Committee, the Ministry of Finance, and a number of organizations and individuals, causing serious consequences, bad public opinion, and reducing the prestige of the Party organization and state management agencies. Fully aware of his responsibility to the Party and the people, he submitted a request to resign from his assigned positions and retire from work.

Pursuant to current regulations of the Party and State and considering the wishes of comrade Dinh Tien Dung, the Party Central Committee agreed to let comrade Dinh Tien Dung cease to hold the position of Politburo member, member of the 13th Party Central Committee.

The Party Central Committee also gave opinions on personnel for the Politburo to decide to introduce the 15th National Assembly to elect to hold the position of member of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly, term 2021 - 2026.
