Information Officer School successfully manufactured a non-contact body temperature measuring device

The design team at the Faculty of Telecommunications Engineering of the Information Officer School (University of Information and Communications, located in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa ) led by Dr., Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran The Nghiep, has successfully researched and manufactured a non-contact body temperature measuring machine, combined with an automatic hand sanitizer sprayer.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran The Nghiep said: "The machine is designed "2 in 1" to simultaneously perform two functions: measuring body temperature and spraying hand sanitizer mist completely automatically, without the need for intervention or impact from medical staff."

The group of members involved in design and assembly, belongs to the Department of Telecommunication Engineering of the Information Officer School.

The device system and functions of the machine include sensors integrated into the system that will automatically measure body temperature at the forehead and display the results by LED light, warning notification through the sound system. The special feature of the device is that it is an automatic, non-contact body temperature measuring machine with very high accuracy (± 0.2 degrees Celsius), ensuring the requirements for body temperature measurement when deployed in practice. In addition, the system also integrates an automatic hand sanitizer mist spraying function, with a sufficient amount to disinfect the hands.

The non-contact body temperature measuring and automatic hand sanitizer machine used by the research team uses a central system of Raspberry Pi 3 B+ embedded computer, in addition to using Adruino boards, distance sensors, infrared temperature sensors... to perform the functions of the machine.

In the coming time, the device will continue to be upgraded by the research team with many features such as: automatically giving warnings if the person measuring body temperature is not wearing a mask, automatically collecting and updating information about the person measuring body temperature, then automatically sending it directly to the unit's focal points so that the unit leader can monitor the body temperature of soldiers quickly and accurately.

The non-contact body temperature measuring device of the Information Officer School has been tested with good efficiency, the technical parameters have achieved high accuracy. During use, the device will be placed in crowded areas such as school gates, lecture halls, at agencies, units, etc. This is one of the very meaningful scientific research products to join hands and contribute to the whole country in preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic.
