On the morning of August 11, responding to Directive 17/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on teaching 2 sessions/day and enhancing physical education , the R&A - VGA project in collaboration with To Vinh Dien Primary School (Hanoi) organized a ceremony to transfer SNAG Golf training tools and curriculum.
Accordingly, from the 2025-2026 school year, To Vinh Dien Primary School will be the first public school in Vietnam to be able to proactively train and teach golf to students by the school's own teachers.
This is a groundbreaking move that will allow students across the school to have access to free golf lessons for many years to come.
At the ceremony, the project presented a set of tools, SNAG Golf curriculum according to US standards, and documents guiding the organization of extracurricular activities, opening up opportunities for students from elementary school to approach golf systematically.
Mr. Vu Nguyen - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) - said that the transfer of SNAG Golf training tools and curriculum helps To Vinh Dien Primary School to proactively organize teaching, not only a step forward in physical education but also a long-term strategy to work with the Vietnam Golf Association to build a foundation for developing Vietnamese golf from the root.
"This is how we create a generation of future golfers who are not only good at their skills but also have sportsmanship and culture. From the first swings, they will not only learn how to hit the ball but also how to be a human being," said Mr. Vu.
SNAG Golf (Starting New At Golf) is a globally popular introductory golf model, emerging as an effective solution, suitable for the physical education environment and development orientation of the young generation of golfers.
With a system of lightweight, safe, vividly designed, colorful tools, SNAG Golf helps elementary school students easily access golf right in the school yard without having to go to a specialized practice field.
The friendliness and flexibility of this model has helped to remove barriers of cost and facilities, while providing an interesting and engaging learning experience for students.
SNAG Golf also creates opportunities for connection between schools - students - parents through extracurricular activities, family days, sports experiences...
Many parents hold a golf club with their children for the first time, but these simple moments open up opportunities for healthy exercise, increase emotional connection and foster family sharing, which is a "luxury" in modern life.
In fact, more and more young Vietnamese golfers have used golf as a “scholarship passport” to access top education systems. Valuable sports scholarships are the reward for their persistent efforts.
This model has been implemented in many countries such as the US, UK, Korea... and is now available in Vietnam through the R&A - VGA youth golf development project.
Launched in early 2024, the R&A - VGA youth golf development project has reached more than 5,000 students at 12 schools, building the concept of "golf skills" - a set of qualities and life skills formed through the process of learning and playing golf.
The idea was introduced in the magazine of The R&A - the global golf development and management organization.
