From 2:00 p.m. on August 30, 2 spillways of Canh Tang Lake will be released.

At 7:00 p.m. on August 29, 2025, the water level of Canh Tang Lake reached an elevation of +80.90 m, exceeding the elevation of 79.75 m (the spillway threshold elevation at the flood discharge spillway gate +1.15 m).

Canh Tang Lake project put into use at the end of August contributes to flood regulation, minimizing risks of flash floods and flash floods in downstream areas.

To be proactive in responding to floods, the Phu Tho Civil Defense Command, considering the request of Hoa Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company, ordered the release of two spillways of Canh Tang Lake in accordance with the operating and regulation procedures approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The discharge flow is from 5m3/s to 32.79m3/s depending on the development of the rain and flood situation. Hoa Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited proactively regulates the discharge flow to ensure the safety of the lake, the safety of the downstream area, and limit the discharge of floodwaters causing inundation to the downstream area. Hoa Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited; People's Committees of communes and wards are responsible for notifying local authorities, agencies, units, organizations, individuals and people in the downstream area. The discharge start time is from 14:00, August 30, 2025.

Phu Tho Civil Defense Command requested to deploy forces, vehicles, and materials according to the approved PCTT&TKCN plan of Canh Tang reservoir; immediately deploy forces to block the culverts and spillways across the road to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles passing through the spillways and culverts during the regulation period. Notify localities downstream of the dam (affected areas) about the situation of regulating the lake's water discharge so that localities can have plans to prevent flooding, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and the state in the downstream area.

At the same time, closely monitor the developments of the lake and dam, strengthen patrolling and guarding 24/24, promptly detect and handle any situations that occur. Timely and fully report all developments to the Provincial Military Command and the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
