As reported, in recent days, the information that the vice chairman of Giang Thanh district, Kien Giang province gave his daughter 600 hectares of land (equivalent to 90 billion VND) on her wedding day has caused a stir in public opinion. However, the vice chairman of the district People's Committee affirmed that his wife "misspoke".

Regarding the incident, the head of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee said he had directed the Giang Thanh District Party Committee's Inspection Committee to investigate the information that the district vice chairman gave his daughter 600 hectares of land as reported by the press.

This is not the first time public opinion has been stirred up by the issue of dowry.

Previously, at a wedding in Bau Bang district, Binh Duong province, the bride and groom were given 230 taels of gold, 30 plots of land, and 2 houses by their parents; in An Giang, the bride's parents gave a dowry of 1 million USD and a building worth about 70 billion VND; in Dong Thap, at an engagement, the bride's dowry was 9.9 billion VND in cash, 50 taels of gold, and a promise to give an additional 1,000 taels of gold...

Psychologist Dr. Nguyen Van Cong wrote an article to Tuoi Tre Online to share about the above incidents.

Dowry, the beauty of wedding culture

In Vietnamese wedding culture, giving a dowry shows the respect of the bride's family for their daughter, and is also a blessing for the daughter and son-in-law.

Parents giving their daughters dowries before they get married is considered a meaningful cultural feature, preserved for many generations. Depending on the circumstances of each family, dowries can be household items, clothes, money, jewelry, land, or houses.

However, in recent days, on the wedding day, the bride's mother (wife of the district vice chairman) gave the young couple hundreds of hectares of land and jewelry worth tens of billions of dong, causing great concern among the public.

The authorities are investigating the truth.

In fact, many families leave their children a large amount of dowry. However, the way they give it to their children is very clever and delicate. On the wedding day, it is just a few ordinary pieces of jewelry like any other family. After a certain period of time, they can call their children and give them a large amount of assets to do business.

Want to receive praise, but get criticized

At the end of October, a clip posted by the bride herself (in Dong Thap ) "caused a storm" on social networks. Accordingly, her dowry was 9.9 billion VND in cash, 50 taels of gold and a large diamond ring for the groom.

The bride's mother then announced that she would give the couple an additional 1,000 taels of gold as capital, even though trays of gold and cash were already stacked on the table.

Then this time, social networks were "stirred up" again with a clip recording the wedding dowry scene of the daughter of the vice chairman of Giang Thanh district, Kien Giang province.

In fact, the purpose of showing off one's wealth is to let everyone know about one's wealth, to receive praise and admiration from those around.

However, the downside of this boasting is that it sows the seeds of pragmatism, materialism, and discrimination between rich and poor.

From this perspective, we can see vulgar bragging as similar to other bad and toxic content on the internet, leading to the invasion of value systems and the desire to have money by any means of some young people.

Therefore, to reconcile, families leaving their children a dowry with a large amount of assets also need to be skillful and tactful.

Parents should be mindful of their actions. Sometimes an action without control and restraint of emotions will have consequences, especially for the younger generation.

Instead of bragging, learn to empathize.

Recently, there have been many charitable acts of philanthropists. They are ready and willing to silently support. Some people donated several billion VND, even scientists mobilized all the money accumulated from teaching over many years to support compatriots affected by natural disasters and floods.

However, that noble action was very gentle, discreet, and not noisy.

On the contrary, many people do not like to share or sympathize with others but like to show off and show off their "ego".

If you can't support the needy, keep your family's affairs private.
