Over the past few years, Vietnam’s men’s and women’s football teams have often gone hand in hand on the road to success, typically winning the last two SEA Games. But this year, the men’s football team could not defend their title, losing to Indonesia in the semi-finals on the afternoon of May 13.

Tuyet Dung said that yesterday the whole team watched and cheered for their juniors. "It's really unfortunate and I would like to share my feelings with the U22 players," she said before the afternoon practice session on May 14. "The U22 defeat will be the motivation for the women's team to compete in the final to win the gold medal. If we beat Myanmar, we can lift their spirits when we play Myanmar in the bronze medal match."

Before tomorrow's final, Vietnam is highly rated. In the group stage, the team defeated Myanmar 3-1. According to Tuyet Dung, the whole team is in a comfortable and confident mood to win the SEA Games gold medal for the fourth consecutive time. However, the midfielder from Ha Nam also warned his teammates not to be complacent.

"Myanmar is always difficult, they defeated Thailand so we have to be careful," Tuyet Dung said. "In the group stage, they performed very well, had good physical strength, and were persistent throughout the match so Vietnam had to play with high concentration."

Due to her age, Tuyet Dung has been used in rotation by coach Mai Duc Chung to ensure her fitness. Therefore, she has not scored in the 32nd SEA Games. "Scoring or not is not as important as the overall performance of the team. Therefore, I will try my best for the team and if I can score, that's even better," said the 29-year-old midfielder.

According to Tuyet Dung, Vietnam has prepared all options for the final match, including extra time and penalty shootouts. But she believes that the important thing is to always maintain the highest fighting spirit.
