(CLO) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has carried out 1,400 airstrikes across Ukraine in the past week alone, making the war situation more tense than ever.
Faced with this situation, Mr. Zelenskyy called on Western allies to maintain military support, while promoting discussions about a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

Large-scale Russian airstrikes have destroyed vital infrastructure and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. President Zelenskyy stressed that assistance from the West, especially weapons and financial aid, is crucial in protecting the country from Moscow's onslaught.
Meanwhile, a senior US official in charge of Ukraine and Russia expressed hope that Ukraine could hold elections by the end of this year, provided Kiev and Moscow reach a ceasefire agreement. However, given the current war situation, this prospect remains very distant.
In addition to airstrikes, Ukraine also has to deal with internal security issues. On February 2, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office announced that it had initiated proceedings against two suspects in connection with the murder of a military officer in the Poltava region.
While Ukraine is seeking to protect its territory and strengthen its internal security, Russia continues to step up its military campaign, seeing it as a way to increase pressure on Kiev to achieve favorable conditions in any future negotiations.
