Traffic jam on Ho Chi Minh City highway

On the morning of the 4th day of Tet, the highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh was crowded, the management unit recommended that people should choose another route for spring travel.

On the morning of February 13 (the 4th day of Tet), the leader of Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VEC E) said that traffic on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway is quite heavy.

Specifically, at 6:42 a.m., there was a lot of traffic, moving slowly from Km3 - Km12. From An Phu intersection to the elevated road through the old district 9 area extending to Long Phuoc toll station, there was a lot of traffic.

Meanwhile, in the opposite direction from Dau Giay, Long Thanh, Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City, traffic is still stable, no congestion has occurred. The highway management unit recommends that drivers should be informed about the traffic situation before departure.

The traffic on Long Thanh bridge from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai is very heavy, while the opposite lane from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City is clear.

"People can choose an alternative route instead of going on the congested highway. People from Ho Chi Minh City going to Long Thanh, Vung Tau... can choose to go along Highway 1 through Dong Nai Bridge or take Cat Lai Ferry to reduce the number of vehicles entering the highway," VEC E leaders recommended.

According to the Lunar New Year holiday schedule, state agencies will start working again from February 15 (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year).

Some families may take advantage of the extra 2 days off to travel to nearby places like Vung Tau, Phan Thiet... to avoid the crowded Tet holidays.

Before Tet, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway also experienced congestion from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh because of the large number of people returning to their hometowns.

Traffic police and route management had to regulate vehicles, restricting vehicles from entering from An Phu intersection to circulate in other directions.
