The update will bring the new platform one step closer to competing with X, Twitter's new name, and push users to use the app more.

Meta said Threads users will soon be able to log in, post, view, and interact with other posts via a desktop browser, as the web version rolls out to users in the coming days. The company said it plans to add more desktop-specific features in the future.
Threads launched in early July to great success, attracting more than 100 million sign-ups in its first week. But users have found the core platform still lacks many features that could compete with Twitter, such as trending topics, search functionality, and direct messaging. Threads has been rolling out small updates over the years, but the launch of the web version is expected to bring users back.
Meta staff have been revealing for weeks that a desktop version of Threads is being tested internally.
Other features added by Threads over the past month include “repost” and “like” tabs on users’ profiles, a chronological follower feed, and a button to share threaded posts to Instagram DMs.
