Responding to Storm No. 9: Prepare online learning plan, postpone class schedule during storms

On September 22, the Minister of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch No. 1595/CD-BGDDT to the Directors of the Departments of Education and Training of provinces and cities from Lam Dong and above on proactively responding to storm No. 9.

The dispatch stated: According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on September 21, the center of storm Ragasa (storm No. 9) was about 430 km east of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 14-15 (150-183 km/hour), gusting over level 17. It is forecast that storm No. 9 will move in the West-Northwest direction, traveling about 15-20 km per hour. In the next 24 hours, it will continue to move in the West-Northwest direction and is likely to strengthen. By 1:00 p.m. on September 22, it will be about 120 km north of Luzon Island (Philippines) with the intensity increasing to super typhoon level, level 16-17, gusting over level 17.

This is an extremely strong storm with complex developments and the potential to directly impact most provinces and cities across the country. Heavy rains caused by the storm pose a very high risk of flash floods, landslides and widespread flooding, especially in areas with steep terrain and weak soil.

Faced with the above situation, the Ministry of Education and Training requested the Departments of Education and Training in the affected areas to closely monitor the developments of the storm, maintain regular contact with the authorities and local rescue forces to promptly respond in case of an incident.

The Department of Education and Training of provinces and cities should develop plans to ensure the safety of students, teachers and education managers; prepare plans for online learning and postpone school schedules during complicated stormy days. At the same time, review, inspect and consolidate school facilities, especially at remote schools in remote areas, where there is a high risk of landslides or flooding. Move assets, machinery, equipment, desks, chairs, and records to safe places to minimize damage, loss, and loss.

Schools are ready to receive people to take shelter from storms and floods in schools when safety is ensured; promptly repair damages; clean and sanitize schools and classrooms immediately after storms and floods to ensure safety, cleanliness, and disease prevention.

The Departments of Education and Training continuously update information, summarize damages, report to the Provincial People's Committee for remediation, and at the same time report to the Ministry of Education and Training for synthesis and reporting to the Government./ .
