Uniqlo accompanies Vietnamese businesses to improve textile and garment production capacity

On June 24, 2024, information from the Department of European - American Markets ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) said that from June 21 - 23, 2024, during a working trip to Japan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang had a working session with Mr. Noriaki Koyanma - CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fast Retailing Group at the headquarters of Fast Retailing Japan.

At the meeting, Mr. Noriaki Koyanma, on behalf of Fast Retailing Group, reported on Uniqlo's business and operational results in Vietnam in recent times and the Group's investment and development plans in Vietnam in the coming time.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang recently had a working session with Mr. Noriaki Koyanma - CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fast Retailing Group at the headquarters of Fast Retailing Japan.

Mr. Noriaki Koyanma said that since its presence in Vietnam in 2019, Fast Retailing has kept its initial commitment to develop its system in Vietnam in parallel with increasing production and developing domestic human resources. In particular, since 2018, Fast Retailing has established a scholarship fund to support research, technology development, human resource development and support for the disadvantaged in society. Since 2022, many Vietnamese students have been granted scholarships and trained in Japan from this fund.

Also during the meeting, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang highly appreciated Uniqlo's contributions and efforts in Vietnam over the past 5 years. The Group has fulfilled its commitments, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises.

Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang hopes that in the coming time, Uniqlo will continue to accompany and support Vietnamese small and medium enterprises in improving production capacity and orienting product development in accordance with Uniqlo's standards in particular and those of the world's textile and garment industry in general.

At the same time, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang suggested that Uniqlo should closely coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the coming time to jointly research and find solutions to promote the Vietnamese fashion industry.

At the end of the working session, the two sides agreed to continue to discuss in more detail in the coming time the possibility of cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade with Fast Retailing Group as well as Uniqlo to develop the Vietnamese garment industry to meet the requirements and standards not only at Uniqlo but also globally.
