A representative of the Tay Ho Half Marathon 2024 organizing committee said that the PBM athlete who suffered a cardiac arrest on the race track had a history of high blood pressure. However, the organizing committee did not know this information when Mr. M. registered to participate.
" Information provided by the family to the hospital doctor is that Mr. M. has a history of high blood pressure and has been taking high blood pressure medication for 4 years. If Mr. M. has such an underlying disease, he should not participate in the race. The organizing committee cannot know that the athlete is taking medication. If they knew, Mr. M. would not be allowed to participate. It was not until he was hospitalized that his wife informed him of this ," a representative of the organizing committee of the Tay Ho Half Marathon 2024 told VTC News.

For example, from the starting point to Van Cao intersection, athletes with problems will be transferred to Hanoi Heart Hospital, branch 2. If they are on the east side of the race, the organizers will talk to Xanh Pon hospital. The organizers have discussed very carefully and submitted it to the City Health Department for approval .
According to the representative of the tournament organizing committee, the unit continuously informs the athletes about health issues. All people with underlying diseases or heart-related diseases are not recommended to participate in the tournament.
After the incident, Mr. M. was given CPR by the medical team on the spot and then taken to Hanoi Heart Hospital, branch 2, for emergency treatment, and then transferred to Bach Mai Hospital.
At Bach Mai Hospital, athlete M.'s health condition has worsened and he is currently being monitored and treated at the intensive care center. The patient has a history of high blood pressure for 4 years and is regularly treated with Coversyn, with a baseline blood pressure of 130/70mmHG.
