On July 28, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (Vietnam Union of Associations - VUSTA) held a conference of science and technology associations nationwide to review the activities of the first 6 months of the year and deploy key tasks for the last 6 months of 2023.

In his opening speech, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations Phan Xuan Dung said that the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations has played the role of a bridge between member organizations and agencies of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other organizations. Thereby, it aims to solve common problems for the scientific and technological intellectuals, advise the Party and the State on major issues of development policies and guidelines. Unite and gather intellectuals through scientific and technological activities, disseminate knowledge, ideological work for intellectuals, policies for intellectuals, and train human resources.

Dr. Phan Xuan Dung affirmed that the Party Delegation and the Standing Committee of the Presidium will continue to work with agencies at the central and local levels to resolve difficulties in the organization and operation of local associations.

According to Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, the local Unions of Associations need to continue to strive harder, actively implement activities, clearly demonstrate a high sense of responsibility for the construction and development of the Vietnam Union of Associations. How to make the Vietnam Union of Associations a strong socio-political organization of the scientific and technological intellectuals, a "common home" of the Vietnamese scientific and technological intellectuals at home and abroad, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people.

In the report summarizing the activities of the first 6 months of the year, Mr. Pham Ngoc Linh, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, said that many science and technology associations have implemented topics, tasks, and science and technology projects from the funding source supported by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.

At the same time, digital transformation is implemented in specialized fields; coordination with companies, universities, and research institutes in scientific research for practical application. Consulting and criticism activities take place actively, closely following the socio-economic situation of the country. Communication, knowledge dissemination, and training activities are also focused on and promoted.

In addition, Mr. Pham Ngoc Linh expressed that the industry's scientific and technical associations proactively implemented the regulations on coordination of activities and improved the quality and content of coordination with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.
