The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just issued a document on moving 11 fixed passenger transport routes to Binh Duong province from the Eastern Bus Station (Binh Thanh District) to the new Eastern Bus Station (Thu Duc City).
Accordingly, the HCM City Department of Transport has requested the Binh Duong Province Department of Transport to support, coordinate in announcing and propagating the relocation of fixed passenger transport routes running from HCM City to Binh Duong and vice versa from the old Eastern Bus Station to the new Eastern Bus Station.
The two sides met to discuss and agreed to relocate 11 bus routes with 426 vehicles from August 1.

According to the representative of the new Eastern Bus Station, after moving 11 more routes from the old station, the total number of routes in the new station is 229.
The relocation of 11 fixed inter-provincial routes from the old station to the new station (HCMC - Binh Duong) because the above passenger bus routes registered to run to Binh Duong but did not enter the station, but instead ran from Binh Duong directly to the provinces to pick up and drop off passengers, or set up illegal parking lots, illegal stations that were not in accordance with regulations, causing unequal competition between businesses.
Therefore, moving 11 routes (HCMC - Binh Duong) to new stations to stabilize route flow and management organization.
The new Eastern Bus Station was inaugurated in October 2020, with a total investment of more than 4,000 billion VND. Phase 1 of the bus station was invested about 740 billion VND, completing the central station with 4 floors above ground and 2 basements.
After the inauguration, the bus station operated inefficiently, with few passengers, with an average of about 10 vehicles entering and leaving the station each day. To increase passenger volume, the bus station and authorities have implemented many solutions to develop public transport, improve infrastructure, etc. Up to now, passenger volume has increased significantly.
Specifically, in the first 6 months of 2024, the output will be over 1 million passengers, equivalent to about 102,000 trips, compared to the same period in 2023, an increase of 122% in passenger output and 55% in trips.
