To gain trust, these individuals have created many fake social media accounts, copying logos, names, and even the entire content and images of reputable hospitals and organizations. Many accounts even use blue ticks to deceive people.
These fanpages are advertised with names such as 'charity races', 'relay journeys', and fundraising to support cancer patients. People trust and transfer money to register to participate through fake links. But in reality, that money has been stolen.
These actions not only cause people to lose money and trust, but also directly affect cancer patients and those in difficult circumstances who are in dire need of help.
To avoid scams, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention - Hanoi City Police recommends people:
- Firstly, you need to carefully check the information about the event and race; and at the same time, contact the Organizing Committee directly for verification.
- Second, when you want to contribute and support cancer patients, choose reputable and legitimate funds. Including the Bright Tomorrow Fund - Vietnam Cancer Patient Support Fund , at the address: ngaymaituoisang.vn .
- Third, if detecting a case with signs of fraud and property appropriation, people need to go directly to the nearest police station to report and resolve the matter according to regulations.
- And finally, regularly share warning information with friends and relatives to raise awareness together.
Ladies and gentlemen, trust and sharing are extremely valuable. Do not let bad people take advantage of your love for personal gain. Always be alert and vigilant, so that each volunteer's heart goes to the right place, to the right person in need of help.
