Vietnam will manufacture XTC-03 armored personnel carrier and T-1 amphibious tank.

On September 23, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense , worked with the General Department of Defense Industry and related units on the research, design and manufacturing plan for the XTC-03 armored combat vehicle and the T-1 amphibious tank.

Reporting at the meeting, Major General Pham Thanh Khiet, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry, said that implementing the direction of the head of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Defense Industry assigned the task to Factory Z179/GAET as the unit in charge of researching and manufacturing the XTC-03 armored combat vehicle and Factory Z125 as the unit in charge of researching and manufacturing the T-1 amphibious tank.

Up to now, the General Department of Defense Industry has completed the explanation of the framework project of the national product XTC-3 armored combat vehicle, the proposal form for tasks under the project and sent it to the Department of Military Science to deploy the next procedures.

For the T-1 swimming tank product, the General Department of Defense Industry has completed the dossier of the Ministry of Defense Science and Technology Program "Research, design and manufacture of T-1 swimming tank" and sent it to the Department of Military Science.

In addition, the General Department of Defense Industry has assigned Factory Z179/GAET to research and manufacture a prototype of the XTC-03 armored personnel carrier; and Factory Z125 to research and manufacture a prototype of the T-1 amphibious tank, to be completed before March 31, 2026.

At the working session, Deputy Minister Pham Hoai Nam praised the General Department of Defense Industry and relevant agencies and units for being proactive in advising and proposing plans to research, design and manufacture the XTC-03 armored combat vehicle and the T-1 amphibious tank.

Deputy Minister Pham Hoai Nam assessed that the XTC-03 armored personnel carrier and the T-1 amphibious tank were identified as weapons of strategic significance. Therefore, the General Department of Defense Industry and relevant agencies and units were required to shorten the time to carry out the mission and soon have products put into use.
