(HNMO) - On June 6, the third official competition day of the 12th ASEAN Para Games , Vietnamese athletes competed in swimming, weightlifting, athletics, and boccia. The athletes made great efforts to bring home 8 more gold medals.

Athlete Vo Van Tung won gold medal in shot put.

On this competition day, the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation won 8 more gold medals in athletics, weightlifting, and swimming. Specifically, in athletics, athlete Vo Van Tung excellently brought home a gold medal in the men's shot put event, disability class F34, with a score of 7.3 meters. Meanwhile, his teammate Truong Bich Van also won first place in the women's shot put event, disability class F56, with a score of 6.49 meters. In the javelin throw event, disability class F56, athlete Trinh Cong Luan achieved a feat with a score of 24.49 meters. His parameters were 5 meters better than the runner-up athlete. At the end of the competition day, the Vietnamese athletics team won 2 more gold medals thanks to athletes Nguyen Ngoc Hiep (men's 400m event, disability class T11) and athlete Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh (men's 400m event, disability class T12).

Athlete Trinh Cong Luan won the gold medal in javelin throw.

On the same day of competition, the weightlifting team won 2 more gold medals thanks to weightlifter Nguyen Van Hung. In the men's 72kg category, weightlifter Nguyen Van Hung performed impressively, successfully lifting all 3 registered weights, 150kg, 153kg and 155kg, respectively, surpassing 2 strong opponents from Thailand and Myanmar to win the number 1 position. Accordingly, Nguyen Van Hung won a double gold medal with the best result of 155kg and a total lift of 458kg. Thus, Nguyen Van Hung equaled the achievements of his teammates Le Van Cong, Nguyen Binh An, Dang Thi Linh Phuong and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan, and brought home the 9th and 10th gold medals for Vietnamese para-weightlifting.

In swimming, in the women's 200m medley category S6-SB5, athlete Trinh Thi Bich Nhu excellently brought home another gold medal for the Vietnamese team with a time of 3 minutes 38 seconds 86. The silver medal winner in this category was athlete Siti Alfiah (Indonesia); the bronze medal in this category also belonged to Indonesian athlete Amanda Nur Safitri.

Thus, as of 8:30 p.m. on June 6, the Vietnamese Paralympic Sports Delegation won 36 gold medals, 35 silver medals, and 53 bronze medals, temporarily ranking third. The Indonesian Paralympic Sports Delegation is still leading the overall rankings with 91 gold medals, 80 silver medals, and 53 bronze medals. The Thai Sports Delegation is in second place with 71 gold medals, 66 silver medals, and 48 bronze medals.
