Vietnam surpassed Thailand to become the Southeast Asian futsal team with the best results in the Asian qualifiers.

With the ability to attack in a variety of ways, Vietnam won all 3 matches in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers. The team crushed Hong Kong China 9-1, easily defeated the Chinese team 7-2 and against a very strong opponent, Lebanon, Vietnam also easily won 4-0. Coach Diego Giustozzi and his team finished the qualifiers with 20 goals to become one of the teams with a strong attack.

Up to now, Malaysia has secured a play-off ticket, following Vietnam and Thailand to the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup Finals in Indonesia. Most likely, Southeast Asia will contribute 4 representatives.

Other teams such as Cambodia, Timor Leste were satisfied with 3rd place after winning an honorable victory, while Brunei ranked last. In the last qualifying round, Laos, Philippines and Singapore were Southeast Asian teams that did not participate while Indonesia was the host so they were exempted from competing.
