Viettel FC has just announced a new player named Mohamed Essam, Mohamed Salah's former teammate at Arab Contractors FC.

On the afternoon of May 18, Viettel Sports Center - the parent company of Viettel FC officially announced new player Mohamed Essam from Egypt. Mohamed Essam is right-footed, plays as a striker, and was a teammate of Mohamed Salah (current Liverpool star) for two seasons at Arab Contractors FC.

After signing a contract with Viettel FC, Mohamed Essam shared: “At the age of 17, I was the youngest player to play in the Egyptian Premier League. I scored important goals as an Egyptian U20 player. I played in Poland for 6 seasons, including a time with Gornik Leczna, in Liga 1. Last year, I played in Thailand and had an impressive season.”

In the 2022-2023 season, Mohamed Essam played 30 matches and scored 18 goals. The player born in 1994 played for both clubs and helped both of them get promoted to Thai League 1. In the first phase, Mohamed Essam played for Nakhon Pathom Utd - the team that just won the Thai League 2 championship this year. Mohamed Essam scored 9 goals, helping the team finish in 2nd place after the first phase of Thai League 2 ended. After that, the striker moved to Trat FC - the team is currently ranked 11th. Mohamed Essam scored 4 goals in 4 matches and then had a series of 8 consecutive wins. At the end of the season, Trat FC won the runner-up position and got a ticket to the promotion.

Colonel Do Manh Dung, Director of Viettel Sports Center, said: “After Geovane Mango's absence due to injury, the addition of Mohamed Essam is extremely necessary for Viettel FC at this time.”

The first time he set foot in Viettel Sports Center, Mohamed Essam excitedly said: “Although I have played in Europe for 6 years, I am still extremely surprised by the facilities and investment of Viettel FC. Thai football requires more technical and tactical skills, but with my research in V-League, players run more, are more active, collide more and are more harsh. I can't wait to get on the field and enjoy the V-League atmosphere.”
