VTV.vn - On October 3, at the Vinh Long Provincial Convention Center, the official session of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, took place.

Mr. Le Minh Tri, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, presented the Politburo 's decision appointing the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, Standing Committee, and Executive Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Attending the Congress were former Politburo member - former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member - former President Truong Tan Sang, former Politburo member - former Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former Politburo member - former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Party Central Committee member - former Vice President Truong My Hoa, Party Central Committee member - Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee Phan Van Mai, Party Central Committee member - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Huynh Thanh Dat.

The 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, with the participation of 499/500 official delegates, representing 152,000 party members in the whole province. The Congress was also honored to welcome leaders and former leaders of the three provinces of Vinh Long, Tra Vinh and Ben Tre through many periods; heroic Vietnamese mothers; heroes of the people's armed forces; religious dignitaries and many guests. The conference atmosphere was solemn but warm, full of faith and expectation.

Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the 15th term of Vinh Long province spoke.

In his opening speech, Vinh Long Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong said that the 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee took place in the context of the province being newly formed from the merger of 3 provinces according to Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly. This is not only an important political event but also a historical milestone, opening a new development journey, streamlining the apparatus, optimally exploiting the regional potential and enhancing socio-economic competitiveness.

The reorganization of 354 commune-level administrative units into 124 new communes, the termination of 26 district-level units, and the improvement of the Party, government, and mass organization system have demonstrated the determination for comprehensive innovation. This is a step towards building an effective and efficient two-level government, in line with development requirements in the new period.

During the 2020-2025 term, despite facing many difficulties, especially the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, the three provinces have still achieved important results. The average economic growth rate is 5.58%/year; GRDP per capita reaches 85.31 million VND/person/year. The average total budget revenue reaches nearly 19,900 billion VND/year.

The economy shifted in the right direction: reducing the proportion of agriculture, increasing industry, construction and services. Tra Vinh completed the construction of new rural areas, Vinh Long and Ben Tre basically met the criteria of new rural areas and civilized urban areas. The fields of health, education and social security were given attention, the poverty rate decreased to 2.3%, unemployment decreased to 2.49%. National defense and security were maintained, social order was stable, foreign affairs and overseas Vietnamese affairs achieved many positive results.

The achievements of the three provinces of Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, and Vinh Long (formerly) in the past term are of great significance, creating a premise for the new Vinh Long province to break through and realize its aspiration for rapid and sustainable development in the new era.

According to the Provincial Party Secretary, the 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee determined the goal, "Building Vinh Long province into a locality with fast and sustainable development, a center of marine economy, a center of renewable energy production, with a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, smoothly connected with localities and connecting points in the Mekong Delta region".

After the opening speech, the Congress presented a summary of the draft Political Report of the Provincial Party Executive Committee for the 2020-2025 term to be submitted to the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term; a summary of the draft Report reviewing the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Standing Committee for the 2020-2025 term; and a report synthesizing discussion opinions and contributions to the draft Documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress.

Mr. Tran Van Lau, 55 years old, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee was appointed as Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Tam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission, announced the decision of the Politburo and the Secretariat to appoint the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

According to the decision, the Executive Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term consists of 83 comrades, of which 24 comrades participate in the Standing Committee. Comrade Tran Van Lau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term. The Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee include comrades: Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Lu Quang Ngoi, Nguyen Minh Dung, Lam Minh Dang, Le Van Han, Kim Ngoc Thai.
