On the evening of September 6, U23 Malaysia had a resounding 7-0 victory over U23 Mongolia in the second match of Group F of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers.
This victory helps the "Malaysian Tigers" revive their hopes of reaching the finals because in the opening match they suffered a shocking loss to Lebanon.
Determined to win all 3 points, U23 Malaysia completely dominated the game from the very first minutes. They quickly opened the score in the 12th minute thanks to Aliff Izwan.
Just two minutes later, Aysar Hadi doubled the lead for the Southeast Asian team. Before the end of the first half, Fergus Tierney got his name on the scoreboard in the 38th minute, giving Malaysia a 3-0 lead.
Entering the second half, the game situation did not change as U23 Malaysia continued to increase pressure.
Fergus Tierney had a brilliant day when he scored two goals in the 48th and 49th minutes to complete his hat-trick.
Despite taking a big lead, coach E. Elavarasan's men did not stop. Aliff Izwan Yuslan scored his second goal of the match in the 63rd minute, before Ziad El Basheer sealed the 7-0 win in the 69th minute.
This victory not only helped U23 Malaysia get the first 3 points but also significantly improved their goal difference. They will have a decisive match with U23 Thailand in the last round to find a place in the final round in Saudi Arabia.
