Vung Tau won the ASEAN Clean Tourist City award for the third time

On January 27, within the framework of the activities of the Southeast Asia Tourism Forum (ATF), at the award ceremony held in the capital Vientiane (Laos), Vung Tau was honored as the ASEAN Clean Tourist City 2024.

This year, in addition to Vung Tau, two other cities, Hue (Thua Thien Hue) and Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), also won the ASEAN Clean Tourist City award.

ASEAN Clean Tourist City is an award to honor and develop high-quality tourism brands in the region. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for units to promote and improve the effectiveness of promoting Vietnamese tourism.

Experts will score based on 108 criteria and divide into 7 main categories: environmental management, cleanliness, waste management, environmental protection awareness, green space, urban security and health, infrastructure, and tourism amenities.

It is known that this is the third time Vung Tau has won this award. Previously in 2020 and 2022, Vung Tau was also recognized and won the clean tourism city award.

According to Vung Tau city leaders, Vung Tau's typical tourism products are resort tourism combined with conferences (MICE), festival and event tourism, sea tourism, and eco-tourism.

Every year the locality welcomes about 6 to 6.5 million visitors for sightseeing and relaxation.
