On October 2, Mr. Doan Hai Linh - Director of the Vung Tau Area Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that the unit is implementing the construction to expand Thuy Van Square in front of Tam Thang Tower.

The project is built on two defense lands (165 and 165A Thuy Van Street, Vung Tau Ward) with a total area of 35,688m2 , located right next to Tam Thang Tower - the new symbol of Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City.

The project includes investment in building a square within two plots of land; construction of a 16m wide traffic route surrounding the park; a system of trees, lighting, parking lots, and rest stops to serve residents and tourists...

Notably, the road surface of Le Hong Phong and Thuy Van streets within the square were also renovated, converting the soft pavement structure to a hard pavement, with 5cm thick stone paving to complete the road surface.

The total investment of the project is nearly 95 billion VND from the state budget. Of which, the construction cost is more than 53 billion VND, compensation cost is 25 billion VND and other costs.

According to the Vung Tau Area Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Thuy Van Square project is currently being implemented, expected to be constructed for more than 3 months and completed by the end of December 2025.

For now, the management board will not start construction of the arched overpass across Thuy Van Street to connect the entire square.

Reason: the construction investment process will be lengthy, and once completed, this project will obscure the image of the Tam Thang tower, the highlight.

Thuy Van Square and the Tam Thang Tower highlight were completed and put into operation, serving people and tourists from the National Day September 2.

After completing phase 2, Thuy Van Square will have an area of more than 52,000m2 , creating a public space to serve residents and tourists as well as a space to organize major events in the area.

Tam Thang Tower - new symbol of Vung Tau

Tam Thang Tower is located in the central area of Back Beach, Vung Tau beach. The tower consists of 143 pillars, with heights ranging from 4.55m to over 34.25m, arranged in increasing height towards the sea. The project was built to become a new symbol of Vung Tau.

The overall shape of Tam Thang Tower is inspired by the image of three strong boat prows, rising high in the vast space, recreating the historical story of the three villages Thang Nhat, Thang Nhi and Thang Tam - names associated with the task of protecting the sea and islands since the time of King Gia Long.

The project was sponsored by Sun Group for design and construction, with a total capital of up to 155 billion VND.
