Pu Mat National Park has achieved many outstanding results in protecting forests and wildlife.

On January 7, Pu Mat National Park held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025. Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De attended and directed the conference.

In 2024, the management and protection of more than 94,000 hectares of special-use forests in Anh Son, Con Cuong and Tuong Duong districts achieved many important results. The unit organized 563 patrols, dismantled 54 camps, removed 308 animal traps, expelled 49 illegal entrants and handled 10 administrative violations. In addition, 10 wild animals, 6 electric shock devices and 2 homemade guns were confiscated.

Overview of the conference.

Forest protection contracting continues to be promoted, with more than 65,000 hectares of forest allocated to 588 households, 108 household groups and 11 communities. The total support fund of more than 1 billion VND has helped people in the buffer zone improve their lives and reduce pressure on forest resources.

Regarding wildlife conservation, 35 individuals have been received and rescued, of which 20 individuals have been released back into the wild. More than 1,500 exotic animals have also been transferred to rescue facilities. Pu Mat National Park is implementing biodiversity conservation models, researching endemic fish species and developing precious medicinal herbs.

Last year, there were no forest fires in the core zone. Propaganda to raise awareness about forest and wildlife protection was also carried out regularly. The national park welcomed more than 40,000 tourists, contributing to promoting local economic development.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De praised the results achieved and requested the unit to continue to strengthen patrols, strictly handle violations, and improve forest fire prevention and fighting capacity. He also suggested promoting propaganda, digital transformation and transparent financial management.

At the conference, Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of Pu Mat National Park, received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for his contributions from 2019 to 2023 to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland. Outstanding collectives and individuals in 2024 were also awarded certificates of merit and prizes.
