Determining the 8 teams entering the quarterfinals of the 2025 Men's Volleyball World Championship

VHO - The matches in the round of 16 of the 2025 Men's Volleyball World Championship (VĐTG) just ended on the evening of September 23 in the Philippines, determining the 8 strongest teams to enter the quarterfinals.

The 2025 World Men's Volleyball Championship has the participation of 32 teams, divided into 8 groups, competing in a round robin to calculate points, selecting the top 2 teams of each group to enter the round of 16.

Iran (red shirt) is the only Asian team in the quarter-finals.

In the latest match of the round of 16, which took place last night, September 23, Iran won a dramatic 3-2 victory over Serbia to enter the quarterfinals.

Even though the European representative led 1-0 and then 2-1, Iran still stubbornly pursued, winning 25-22 in set 4 and then exploding in the deciding set to win 3-2, earning a ticket to the quarterfinals.

Also coming from behind to win was the USA, who had to sweat against Slovenia, winning 3-1 after losing the first set.

Previously, Italy, Belgium and Bulgaria all showed absolute strength with 3-0 victories over Argentina, Finland and Portugal respectively.

World number one Poland, the title contenders, beat Canada 3-1. Turkey impressed with a similar win over the Netherlands.

At the end of the round of 16, the 8 strongest teams participating in the quarter-finals have been determined, including: Türkiye, Poland, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, USA, Czech Republic and Iran.

In the quarter-finals, Italy will face Belgium, Poland will face Türkiye, the Czech Republic will play Iran and the USA will face Bulgaria.

The matches in the round of 8 of the 2025 Men's Volleyball World Championship will take place on September 24 and 25.
