According to SlashGear , much of Xiaomi's presentation at the launch event was dedicated to comparing the car to the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S. Those comparisons aren't empty, as some of the car's capabilities are impressive.
SU7 includes two variants SU7 and SU7 Max
Short for Speed Ultra, the SU7 comes in two variants: the single-motor rear-wheel drive SU7 and the more premium SU7 Max with dual-motor and all-wheel drive (AWD). The SU7 Max is the most notable of the bunch, but it's not yet clear how much it will cost. Xiaomi claims a battery range of 800km on the SU7 Max, which eclipses the range of the Mercedes EQS (720km), Tesla Model S (715km) and Porsche Taycan Turbo (525km).
The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds, again better than its Tesla and Porsche rivals. Furthermore, its top speed of 265 km/h also surpasses the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan.
Notably, the five-seat Xiaomi sedan will run the same HyperOS software system on phones and tablets that the Chinese company recently announced, allowing users to access Xiaomi applications. The car also supports Apple's AirPlay and CarPlay features.
Some technical specifications on the SU7 series are announced
While the performance figures are certainly impressive, the battery technology inside the SU7 is also worth considering. The company says its 800V HyperCharge system will provide enough power for 220km of driving in just 5 minutes of charging, or 510km in 15 minutes. The SU7's styling brings Porsche sports car aesthetics and some Aston Martin DB9 inspiration to the interior and exterior.
The sports car-inspired seats are aggressively designed and come in ambitious colors like fiery red, but the company hasn’t overlooked the practicality of its premium electric car. The SU7 offers a spacious 517 liters of trunk space, better than its Porsche and Tesla rivals. The SU7 variant has a range of 668 km and promises a top speed of 210 km/h.
The spacious interior cabin uses the HyperOS operating system.
At the moment, the price of the Xiaomi SU7 is still a secret, but the company's CEO Lei Jun said its asking price "will exceed your expectations." Jun also said the company has global ambitions for its electric vehicles, but it's unclear when the vehicles will start to be exported outside of China.
