On October 15, the People's Committee of An Giang province held a conference to review the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first 9 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 3 months of 2025. Comrade Nguyen Thanh Phong, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Combating Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods in An Giang province (Steering Committee 389/AG) chaired the conference.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the functional forces of the Steering Committee 389/AG detected 1,286 violations, collected over 211 billion VND for the budget, and prosecuted 40 cases and 51 subjects.

The market situation in the province is generally stable, with no speculation or unreasonable price increases. The fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods has achieved initial results, and has been basically contained, with no hot spots arising in border areas and the provincial market.

However, smuggling and trade fraud activities are still complicated. On the border, the transportation of drugs and foreign cigarettes through border gates and trails still occurs; at sea, illegal transshipment, transportation and trading of DO oil still continues.

Domestically, the trade and transportation of prohibited goods, smuggled goods, and commercial fraud still occur on a small scale and in a scattered manner, with many violations such as trading in smuggled goods, mislabeling goods, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and violations of business regulations.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Thanh Phong acknowledged and commended the achievements of agencies and units in the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in recent times. Functional forces from the grassroots level to border and sea units, along with specialized departments and branches, have proactively followed the area, strengthened inspection and control, promptly detected and strictly handled violations.

Standing Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong emphasized that the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods is a regular and continuous task, requiring all levels and sectors to focus on effectively implementing peak periods on all three routes: Border, sea and inland; strengthen "inter-force - inter-area - inter-line" coordination, and strictly handle violations.

At the same time, promptly reward groups and individuals who do well and consider the responsibility of cases of lax management. From now until the end of 2025, it is necessary to act quickly, neatly and effectively, firmly grasp the area and market, protect legitimate businesses and consumer rights.
