Dr. Nguyen Van Trung, Head of Admissions and Public Relations Department of Lac Hong University (located in Tran Bien Ward), said: “Choosing a school and a career is a very important matter in life, because the career that candidates choose may be associated with their whole life. Therefore, candidates must research and consider very carefully and thoroughly.”

Shifting technical industries

According to universities, through the recruitment and career guidance work at high schools, it shows that candidates are shifting to choosing technical and economic majors associated with technology. These majors are also closely linked to the development trend of the labor market in the new situation, when the country is experiencing strong development in science and technology. In particular, in 2025, majors in the fields of pedagogy, the army and the people's police will be chosen by many candidates, although these majors all have their own conditions to ensure entry.

Deputy Director of Department of Education and Training Pham Hong Thang:

Be wise when deciding on a major.

Choosing a career and major is very important for each of you, so you should not register your wishes based on emotions or following the majority of your friends, but should rely on your own abilities, interests and opinions to make the wisest decision.

Pham Anh Tuan, a student at the Forestry High School (located in Trang Bom commune), said: “This year, I plan to apply for the Automotive Technology major at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education. One of the reasons I decided to choose this major is because mechanical engineering is one of my favorite majors. In terms of social needs, every family now has or will buy a car, so the need for repair services will increase day by day. Besides, the automobile manufacturing industry in Vietnam is growing very fast, so I think I will have many opportunities.”

Bui Trong Tan, a student at Bui Thi Xuan Secondary School (located in Tam Hiep Ward), said he decided to choose logistics at Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport for his future career. According to Tan's research, logistics is a relatively new industry in Vietnam, and not many schools offer training. Moreover, Vietnam is a country that produces and exports a lot of goods, so he will pursue this industry to seize the opportunities.

According to Dr. Nguyen Khac Cuong, Principal of Lilama 2 International Technology College, universities, practical engineering majors are not too difficult to study, students just need to be passionate to be successful for the most part. Besides, job opportunities are currently very large, students who have not graduated can be hired by businesses. In the near future, job opportunities for engineering students will be even greater when the country is developing transport infrastructure with many large railway projects, and all manufacturing sectors need technical labor force.

Semiconductor industry on the rise

The 2025 university admissions season continues to witness the attraction of the new industry of chip and semiconductor manufacturing. This industry is expected to continue to be "hot" for many years to come, because Vietnam is the center of investment attraction of large technology companies in the field of chip and semiconductor manufacturing. Meanwhile, high-quality human resources in this field are a challenge for businesses. Currently, there are not many schools training in chip and semiconductor manufacturing, so students have difficulty finding opportunities to apply.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Principal of Lac Hong University, from 2024, the school will start to open a semiconductor training major and will be the first university in Dong Nai to open this major. Currently, many semiconductor technology corporations have signed training cooperation agreements with the school and guaranteed output for students. To study this major, students must have a passion for technology and basic knowledge of mathematics and physics. In addition, students need basic knowledge of English to serve the learning, research and communication process later.

Regarding the job opportunities of this industry, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh added: “Students who graduate from this industry do not have to worry about job opportunities, because this industry is and will continue to need a lot of human resources to serve production. The government is planning to train 10,000 semiconductor and chip manufacturing engineers, so students will benefit greatly. On the other hand, there are currently many businesses willing to create conditions for semiconductor students to do internships early and immediately hire them.

The education sector is thriving again.

In previous years, the education sector tended to be difficult to recruit, as candidates often prioritized choosing economics, engineering, and technology, but 2024 and especially 2025 witnessed a revival. Not only candidates with good academic performance, but many candidates with excellent academic performance also decided to study education, instead of other "hot" and higher-paying majors such as health, finance, and banking.

According to the Board of Directors of Dong Nai University, the education sector's enrollment has improved again because the teacher's policies are receiving more attention than before.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien, a student at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary School (Ho Nai Ward), said: “I decided to choose the teaching profession after doing some in-depth research. This profession has preferential policies on training, such as: free and supported tuition fees, students can also receive support for living and studying expenses. Moreover, the current policy for teachers is much better than before if they work for public schools, and private schools also need good teachers and pay high incomes.”

Meanwhile, Doan Nguyen Thang, a student at Ngo Quyen High School (located in Tran Bien Ward), the top scorer in Block A in the 2025 Dong Nai Province High School Graduation Exam, said he had registered for admission to the Mathematics Pedagogy major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. This is the major he loves and has been striving for many years to have a chance to be admitted. In addition to the State's training support policy, this major currently has quite good job opportunities if he graduates with a good or excellent degree from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
