According to Mr. Tho Ba Re, the mountain crack in Xop Phe village shows signs of spreading and deepening, so people cannot return to their old place of residence.

The district assigned Muong Tip commune to arrange for affected households to live with other families. In the coming time, land in resettlement areas in the region will be checked to arrange new housing.

Previously, the People's Committee of Que Phong district (Nghe An) also evacuated 4 households to a safe place after discovering a crack on Pu Meo mountain, Nam Giai commune. At the scene, inspection found a crack about 100m long, the widest point of the crack was about 40cm, and nearly 10m deep.

According to some locals, prolonged heavy rains may be the cause of Pu Meo mountain cracking, posing a risk of landslides.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crack on Pu Meo Mountain and are coming up with solutions to ensure the safety of lives and property of people living at the foot of the mountain.
