TPO - According to the leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, today (October 1), the unit sent information requesting schools to thoroughly educate students not to use products distributed or donated of unknown origin.

On October 1, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that the unit had grasped information about the incident in which a student at Binh Minh Secondary School, Thanh Oai District, was hospitalized after drinking water given out by a stranger in front of the school gate.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has requested the Thanh Oai District Department of Education and Training to inspect, verify, and report specifically. The incident is also being verified and clarified by the police.

Also on October 1, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued a warning to the Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns and cities about the phenomenon of students suffering from stomach aches after drinking free drinking water near school gates.

“We request that units strengthen the dissemination to schools to inform students not to use products distributed or donated with unknown origins, and closely coordinate with authorities to manage areas around school gates and in the locality; strengthen management and direction to ensure food hygiene and safety in schools,” the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requested.

Many parents also expressed concern that food of unknown origin in front of the school gate could potentially affect students’ health. Especially street vendors selling all kinds of items such as sausages, fried skewers, candy packages, red and green drinks… attract students.

As Tien Phong reported, at around 1:20 p.m. on September 30, at the school gate, a group of strangers distributed free BONCHA Honey Tea with peach oolong flavor to students of Binh Minh Secondary School, Binh Minh Commune, Thanh Oai District, Hanoi. Afterwards, 263 students drank the product.

On October 1, 13 students were taken to Thanh Oai General Hospital for health monitoring due to symptoms of headache, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. After examination, the doctor diagnosed food poisoning.

The local interdisciplinary inspection team collected the water bottles used by the students, including: BONCHA honey tea with peach oolong flavor and C2 water with pink guava and passion fruit flavor.

The district's interdisciplinary inspection team sealed and handed over the products to Thanh Oai District Police and took two samples of the above products to send to the Testing Institute for testing, but the results have not yet been released.
