Handling of suspected artillery shells discovered in Quang Ngai

On September 28, Commander of the Military Command of Nghia Hanh Commune (Quang Ngai) Nguyen Thanh Hieu informed that the Commune Military Command has requested the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command and the Defense Command of Region 5 - Duc Pho to deploy a plan to safely handle the object suspected to be an artillery shell that was recently discovered by local people.

Previously, at 3:45 p.m. the same day, Nghia Hanh Commune Police received a report from Mr. Le Quang Thach (44 years old), a tree staff member of Quang Ngai Province Urban Environment Company, that while trimming and clearing trees on 23/3 Street, Phu Vinh Trung Village, Nghia Hanh Commune, he discovered the above-mentioned object.

The commune police quickly dispatched forces to the scene to cordon off the area and set up warning ropes to ensure people's safety.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu added that, through initial observations, half of this object was buried underground, the other half was exposed, not excluding the possibility that this was a 105mm artillery shell left over from the war.
