SGGP

On June 7, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department, Tay Ninh Province Department of Health reported 3 cases of food poisoning after eating wild mushrooms (unknown species), occurring in Tan Binh commune, Tan Bien district.

The poisoned people include: Mr. Cao Huy Hoang (44 years old, deceased), Ms. Khuu Thi Hong Tram (wife, 44 years old) and Cao Thi Nhu Quynh (daughter, 17 years old) who was severely poisoned and is being treated at Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC).

According to initial information, on June 3, Mr. Hoang went into the forest to pick mushrooms (similar to chicken egg mushrooms, goose egg mushrooms) to cook and eat. On the morning of June 4, all 3 people had symptoms of vomiting so they bought medicine to take but it did not improve. On June 5, the whole family was taken to Tay Ninh Provincial General Hospital by relatives for emergency treatment, then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital.

Previously, the SGGP newspaper published on June 6 had an article titled “Hidden dangers of toxins from natural mushrooms”, reflecting that many people have confused edible natural mushrooms with dangerously toxic ones, leading to many very serious poisoning cases.
