3 works won A prize at the 2024 National Book Award

The 7th National Book Awards 2024 honored 58 works in 59 award categories. This year, the 3 A-prize winning works were all books by Vietnamese authors.

On the evening of November 29, the 7th National Book Awards Ceremony, 2024 took place at the Hanoi Opera House. From more than 400 works submitted by more than 51 publishing units, the Jury selected 58 good books to propose for awards at the 7th National Book Awards. The books were carefully evaluated by the jury, including leading experts in the field, through the preliminary and final rounds before being proposed for awards. At the award ceremony, 3 works won A prizes including the book series "Gia Dinh - Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City: Long Mile of History (1698-2020)", "Handbook of Diagnosis and Treatment of Internal Medicine", "Complete Collection of Military Writers - Yearbook - Works". This year, the number of books participating in the 7th National Book Award is 372 titles and book series, including 455 books (60 more titles and book series, 20 books than the 6th National Book Award). The number of publishers sending books to participate in this year's Award is 51/57 publishers (10 more publishers than the 6th National Book Award).

The Readers' Favorite Book Award category was added for the first time to the National Book Awards. The four winning works were "The Teacher", "The Story of the Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly", "Nameless Summer", and "How Much Is Youth Worth?". This category was nominated and voted for by readers. The Vietnam Publishing Association organized the reception of readers' nominations on the official website of the National Book Awards, receiving over 100 books nominated by readers.
