5 steps to withdraw money from ATM via chip-embedded citizen ID card

The use of chip-embedded citizen identification cards (CCCDs) in daily life brings many conveniences to people, one of which is the ability to withdraw money.

This service is being piloted in some localities, some banks such as: VietinBank, BIDV , Vietcombank, VietCapital Bank with 5 simple steps.

Step 1: Choose withdrawal method

Customers choose the cardless withdrawal function on the ATM screen, then click to withdraw money using the chip-embedded ID card.

Step 2: Place the CCCD on the device

After choosing the withdrawal method, the customer places the chip-attached CCCD card on the card reader so that the machine can read the information stored on the card.

Note: Insert the CCCD card with chip into the ATM card reader by turning it over (the area with the chip) and placing the chip into the ATM card reader.

Step 3: Face authentication

The ATM automatically checks, analyzes and compares biometric data on the chip-embedded ID card with information stored in the banking system. The time to verify customer information is from 6 to 8 seconds. At this time, the customer looks directly into the camera on the machine, presses Continue for the machine to perform the transaction.

Step 4: Enter PIN

After the system successfully authenticates, the customer enters the card PIN corresponding to the account to withdraw money.

Step 5: Withdraw money

At this step, customers just need to select the amount to withdraw and make the transaction as usual.

The ATM will immediately pay out the money and the transaction receipt (if any). At the end of the transaction, the customer will receive back the chip-embedded CCCD card and the amount of money transacted.

Thus, using chip-embedded CCCD cards in banking transactions helps people minimize the risks of card counterfeiting and ensure the security of financial transaction information.

In case a citizen loses their chip-embedded citizen identification card, it is very difficult for those who pick it up to withdraw all the money in the account.

Because, when people withdraw money using a chip-embedded CCCD, they must place the card on a reader, which will collect portrait photos and fingerprints (citizen's live data); then analyze the data and compare the biometric data saved on the CCCD card chip.

If the two data match, people can perform the operations to withdraw money.
