Boxer Kongklai (Thailand) was knocked out by his Belarusian opponent, Antar Kacem, at the ONE Friday Fights 90 event.
Controversy erupted after the ONE Lumpinee 90 event (also known as ONE Friday Fights 90) took place on December 6, when 6 Thai fighters participated in the competition. Of these, 5 were between Thai fighters and foreign opponents.

Recently, Chatri Sityodtong, CEO of ONE Championship, spoke out on the issue. Mr. Sityodtong stated: “Some fans question why Thai fighters lose so often and think that it is not good for Muay Thai. In fact, it is not.
People need to understand that, when Muay Thai goes international, we need champions from all over the world, not just from Thailand. If Muay Thai only has Thai champions, it means the sport is not truly international yet."
Chatri Sityodtong added: “Some people may think that not having a Thai champion is dangerous, but it is not. It shows that Thailand’s martial arts heritage is becoming a world heritage, and that is a very good thing. Some people have the wrong view, which shows that they do not understand the business on an international level. The more Muay Thai champions from all over the world, the more Muay Thai will develop and gain more fans.”
According to the match results, Thai boxer Kongklai lost to Belarusian opponent Antar Kacem. Antar Kacem knocked out Kongklai in the second round. Meanwhile, boxer Dedduanglek lost to Russian opponent Asadula Imangazaliev. Dedduanglek was even knocked out in the first round.
Other Thai boxers P. Jitmuangnon, Petkitti JeabRamintra and P. Kingballroofphuket all lost to foreign boxers. Among them, Turkish boxer Soner Sen won by TKO (technical knockout) against P. Jitmuangnon in round 1. Xavier Gonzalez (Spain) defeated Petkitti JeabRamintra by knockout at 2:21 of round 2. Ubaid Hussain (Pakistan/England) defeated Petsinchai Kingballroofphuket by knockout at 2:10 of round 1.

Rambong Sor Terapat was the only Thai boxer to win the event, but his opponent was fellow countryman Patakake SinbiMuayThai. Meanwhile, the match between two Thai boxers, Rodbenz and Petchmuangthai, was cancelled.
