In the first 6 months of the year, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 has seriously implemented plans and directives from the Central and the province on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; effectively implemented the peak period; coordinated with local forces to manage, inspect, supervise and control import and export goods, means of transport, and passengers entering and exiting the country ; closely monitored import and export goods, means of transport, and luggage of passengers entering and exiting the country ; deployed many key topics and plans... Thereby, the functional forces in the province have detected, arrested and handled 1,464 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and criminally prosecuted 35 cases with 60 subjects.

During the peak month alone, the province's functional forces discovered, arrested, and handled 380 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, with the value of infringing goods being VND8.8 billion.

Leaders of the Customs Branch of Region VIII reported and clarified the results of the work against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province.

At the conference, members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 assessed that although the results of fighting smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods have changed a lot, they are not really stable, the situation of smuggled goods and goods with fake origin is still complicated. Along with that are difficulties due to thin forces, lack of means of operation, long land and sea borders. Some functional forces in the province face many difficulties in terms of warehouse locations and yards to manage and preserve evidence of administrative violations when there are large quantities, specific characteristics, some cases incur large costs to rent places to preserve evidence and means of violation; there is also a lack of legal regulations on appraisal of evidence of administrative violations.

At the same time, it is proposed to strengthen the organization of signing coordination regulations between sectors and functional forces; review, amend and supplement legal regulations related to handling smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods to suit the actual situation; organize training courses and specialized training on anti-smuggling, trade fraud, identification of counterfeit goods, goods violating intellectual property, especially in the field of e-commerce...

At the same time, focus on perfecting the Provincial Steering Committee 389, requiring 54 commune, ward and special zone chairmen to participate in the Provincial Steering Committee 389, ensuring that the Steering Committee operates from July 1, 2025.
